SENTINEL LAUNCHES LOCAL CAMPAIGN TO TREAT HEATING SYSTEMS
Leading water treatment and energy efficiency expert Sentinel has launched a local campaign to raise awareness that homeowners can save up to £120 a year off their heating and hot water bills with a properly treated hot water system. The campaign has been devised to try to generate additional leads for installers in the area.
The campaign highlights the energy saving, money saving and maintenance saving benefits of having a clean heating system, and this pilot scheme initially targets the Coventry, Warwick and Leamington Spa area of the Midlands. It’s particularly relevant as it’s an area that experiences very hard water, so heating and hot water systems are prone to lime scale build up as well as the usual build-up of system ‘sludge’ as a result of rusting inside an untreated system. This sees an accumulation of black magnetite sludge that can reduce the efficiency of the system significantly and damage the boiler, the pump, the radiators, the valves and pipework if left untreated.
It is hoped that the pilot scheme will see householders asking their heating engineers and installers whether their system is properly treated and if it’s not, to do something about it for them.
Director of Sales John Lynch says that with up to 50% of the heating systems in the UK probably still untreated, there is a massive marketplace waiting to hear about ways of saving money on the ever rising fuel bills that people in the UK are experiencing: “It seems highly unlikely that fuel bills will go down in the foreseeable future so people are looking for any way they can of reducing the amount they spend on heating and hot water costs. On an average annual heating bill of £800, we know that a clean heating system protected with Sentinel X100 can save up to 15% of their fuel costs over an untreated system – that’s £120 a year – and not just this year, but every year they keep their system clean.
“If 25,000 homes in the area recognised this and had their systems cleaned and treated with Sentinel products, that’s £3 million that could be saved every year from heating bills. Imagine the amount that would be saved if the campaign was rolled out across the UK!”
Sentinel has seen significant year on year growth in sales of its water treatment products, as more and more people recognise the benefits of having a clean and efficient system and as the UKs heating engineers, installers and plumbers recognise the significant benefits that using quality water treatment products can offer them – not least the fact that a properly treated heating and hot water system rarely requires ‘call backs’ from homeowners to a faulty boiler or heating system.
In addition, Building Regulations now require that a new heating system or a system that has a new boiler fitted to it, must benefit from proper water treatment: “By having your heating and hot water system properly cleaned and protected with Sentinel water treatment products, you significantly reduce the chance of heating system breakdowns, you save money, reduce CO2 emissions, and use less energy into the bargain,” says Neil Davies, Sentinel’s European Marketing Manager. “It’s a win, win, win situation for homeowners and installers alike.”
